Americans share many common values that we live by in our daily lives. One of the biggest and most important of the values is freedom of the individual. Freedom of the individual is the right to live your life how you want, believe in your own religion, and make choices on your own. This value is one of the defining values of all Americans, and it is one of the reasons why America was founded in the first place. Another main value of America is privacy. Privacy has been increasingly important in our culture, especially when it comes to being online. For example, web browsers like Google Chrome now feature an “Incognito Mode” which keeps no record of the web sites that someone has visited while in that mode. Privacy is also another defining value of America, as not many countries have as much privacy for people as America does.
Lastly, the last defining value of America is equality. This means that no person has more rights than any other person. This is very important value because it gives everyone the right to have an equal chance at everything and be treated equally. I think these values would stand out to people in a thousand years and be looked back upon and studied in a similar way that we are studying the Anglo-Saxon values.
